In this role you will work on the design of digital demodulators for the satellite and cable set top box markets. You will be working on a high level simulator, written in C and Matlab, describing the demodulation chain beginning with timing recovery, through efficient decoding of codes such as Reed-Solomon and convolution codes, and symbol decision allowing for minimal BER using cutting edge technologies. You will also be working on micro-architecture and firmware design of the demodulator and on their implementation on a cycle based low level C simulator.

This position is for a MAC protocol staff engineer, responsible for the architecture, design, and validation of MAC protocols for our system on a chip ICs. The candidate must be an expert in both IP and MAC protocols and have a firm understanding of underlying PHY layers. The candidate must also understand QoS and how MAC protocols and system architectures influence it. The candidate must be a creative problem solver with personal design experience in an industry MAC protocols. Work closely with the physical layer engineers to ensure an efficient hardware/firmware partitioning. Design a system simulation model of both sides of cable network, simulating the MAC-to-MAC, MAC-to-APPLICATION, and MAC-to-PHYSICAL layers, and use it to design, verify and debug the system.

Horizon Semiconductors is developing state of the art custom processors for the consumer electronic markets. Our processors contain advanced micro-architecture elements, such as deep pipelines, multi-threading, DSP and vector instructions.

As a member of the compilers team, you will participate in the development of optimized C compilers for our unique instruction sets, enabling the programming of those processors in C rather than in assembly language.
